With the objective and a dynamic vision to support contemporary engineering, the Faculty of Engineering and Technology was established in the year 1916, the first Engineering College of the State.The institute has nine departments namely Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Instrumentation, Computer Science and Engineering, Chemical Engineering and Pharmacy.
Memorandum of Understanding
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Yale University of USA.
The Faculty of Engineering and Techonology has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with Fukui University of Japan. This will enable the academic exchange of the Staff and Students between our University and the Fukui University.
In addition, it has also entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the University of Technology, Sydney, Australia for promotion of technical collaborations.
The has entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Kumamoto University, Japan for Collaboration in the area of “Materials Processing using Explosives”. This will promote academic exchanges.
Research Programmes
The Faculty of Engineering and Technology gives importance to teaching and research. Research projects, funded by various agencies are being successfully carried out. Also Undergraduate students have the opportunities to work in research projects.
Introduction of Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)
From the academic year 2000-2001, Choice Based Credit System has been implemented in the Faculty for all Under-graduate and Post-graduate programmes.
These programmes offer a package of certain core courses and some elective courses that allow for effective interaction among students from different disciplines. The novelty of the programmes consists in the inter-disciplinary curriculum with a pronounced accent on frontier areas of knowledge. This system, comprises several programmes which are referred to in terms of the credits they are worth and the grading of students according to their performances
